Threaded Rods

EN8 and EN19 are designations for carbon and alloy steels, respectively, in the European standard (EN) for steel specifications. Threaded rods made from these materials are used in various applications, particularly in construction and engineering, where a strong and durable threaded fastener is required.

EN8 Threaded Rods:

Material Composition: EN8 is a medium carbon steel with a composition that typically includes around 0.4% to 0.45% carbon, 0.6% to 0.9% manganese, and small amounts of sulfur and phosphorus. This composition provides good strength and wear resistance.

EN8 Equivalent IS Standard:

The equivalent grade for EN8 in the Indian Standards is typically covered by IS 40C8. IS 40C8 is a medium carbon steel with properties similar to EN8. It specifies the requirements for medium tensile carbon steel, suitable for various applications.

Properties:

Strength: EN8 threaded rods have good tensile strength, making them suitable for applications where moderate strength is required.

Machinability: EN8 steel is known for its machinability, making it easier to machine into various shapes and sizes.

Applications: EN8 threaded rods are commonly used in applications where strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness are essential. They are often used in general engineering, automotive components, and other structural applications.

EN19 Threaded Rods:

Material Composition: EN19 is a high-tensile alloy steel that typically contains around 0.35% to 0.45% carbon, along with significant amounts of chromium, molybdenum, and other alloying elements. The alloying elements enhance the mechanical properties of the steel.

EN19 Equivalent IS Standard:

The equivalent grade for EN19 in the Indian Standards is often covered by IS 40Cr4Mo3. IS 40Cr4Mo3 is a high-tensile alloy steel that corresponds to the properties of EN19. It specifies the requirements for high tensile alloy steel suitable for applications requiring high strength and hardness.

Properties:

High Strength: EN19 threaded rods are known for their high tensile strength, making them suitable for applications where greater strength is required.

Hardness: The alloying elements contribute to the hardness of EN19 steel, providing good wear resistance.

Toughness: EN19 steel also exhibits good toughness, making it suitable for applications subjected to heavy loads and impact.

Applications: EN19 threaded rods are often used in applications where high strength and durability are crucial. They find applications in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and heavy machinery.
